A Charity a Week

Growing up my parents were very private about the charities they gave to and I did not pry. As an adult with a growing family I found my own to assist. As my dad got sick and passed away and I began to take over the handling of my mom's finances I learned about the charities who they gave money to and ensured the giving would continue.

The first of these I would like to talk about is the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As I have described previously all of us should be knowledge in our giving. So the first place I look at for information is Charity Navigator. There you will find that it is given four stars out of four stars with an overall rating of 91.31 out of 100. Based out of Memphis Tennessee they have been leading the way in the advancement of research on children's devastating illnesses. One man's vision began it all. To quote their mission statement, "The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is to advance cures and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or family's ability to pay." This charity exemplifies one man's hope to make a difference. He has succeeded a million fold. Please consider giving at the website below.
